I am needing a talking caller id for my home phone but wanted to know wich is the best to buy and where? If it just says the number outloud or the name of the person as well and if I can check call history as well. Oh and and about how much is something like this?
For just under USD 32.00$, you can buy a talking caller ID box on ebay...
it's an Emerson SO-EM60, listed at USD 22.99$... here's the seller's
description.
This listing is for a brand new Emerson SO-EM60 Large LCD Talking CID. It
has a large LCD that can be seen and read easily from across the
room. The display shows the caller's telephone number and name, as well
as the date and time. Ringer LED indicator with blue backlight. Up to 60
message memory. 30 Day Warranty. Shipping and Handling anywhere in
the Continental United States will be $8.99. Overnight shipping will be
available upon request.
They've got a 99.5% positive feedback rating (I'd trust them if I was
looking to buy) and a "Top Rated Plus" designation from eBay.
If you are interested in what other items they have that might fit your
needs, I'd say give them a call, toll free, at 1-800-913-7878 to see what
they suggest. Thee have been buying, selling and repairing Business
Communication Equipment of all brands for over 25 years.
Ooops... in my haste, I neglected to post the link to the eBay ad... my bad.

i've heard there are phones with built-in talking caller ID, but am not sure of the price. i have a talking caller ID box myself, but setting it up to do what you want is rather visual. I don't like it because it's extremely loud, and i'd much rather have something where the volume is adjustable.
Do any of you know if best buy or walmart sales a phone with a built in talking caller id, I rather be able to go into a store and see it before buying and not have to pay shipping.
Yes, a lot of the soni or any other top brands do tend to have phones with a talking caller ID. Also, you can look some up on amazon. If you type in clasco I believe its spelled you can get the caller id that replaces the clasco. I have an old clasco caller id and like it. It's loud, so I can hear it from the next room and the like, I can record names of incoming callers and if the number is not in the recorded numbers it will read them out digit by digit.

Ok it's updated, doing it on my computer. Would have just edited my prior post if I could,
Ok this one should work, I previewed it
Another place where you can get a talking caller ID is Maxiaids. It's an online place where they sell things for the blind and physically handicapped.Actually they sell all kinds of things.

I am in Canada, but I know for a fact that Best Buy and Wal Mart have talking Panasonic
call display cordless phones, the speaker being on each handset and the volume
adjustable on each handset as well so that it goes wherever you are.
VTech also has some I actually have a Vtech cordless talking ID phone myself, but that's
because it was a gift, otherwise I would have chosen Panasonic.
I found one at Walmart, it announces the name of the person or the number aloud.
You're not missing much by not haing the Panisonic. We have them an they last about a year before the handsets start flaking out. My parents have the same phone system and they had the same problem before they replaced theirs. Now, if all the menu functions talked, that'd be cool.
yeah, want to change the ring tone on my landline phone so I'm not listening to a boring ringer all the time. lol Plus, do the phones with talking caller ID built in, repeat the phone name or number with each ring, or are those settings that are available?
Hi all, the panasonic will only read the name and/or number and you can adjust the volume of the respective handset, however; the volume of the spoken caller id only has one level, the default level, if you can not see the menues on the phone you can not change any settings. I also have a set of GE talking chordless phones here which I bought from Best Buy a couple of years ago however they are also equally inaccessible, the phones speak the caller id info but nothing else.
